9:00 AM – 10:30 AM - Mobility and Cognition

Details: Effects of mobility on cognition for Teachers and School-Based Therapists. How mobility enhances learning, and maximizing learning through principles of neuroplasticity.

10:30 AM – 10:45 AM - Break

10:45 AM – 12:15 PM - Switch Assessment for Type and Location

Speaker: Michelle L. Lange, OTR, ABDA, ATP (Read Bio)

Details: Will include assessment, review of available switches and a switch location hierarchy. Assessment will cover switch access and how this varies with the AT device being controlled. Case studies will be part of training.

Afternoon Session   (1:00 PM - 3:30 PM)

1:00 PM – 1:45 PM - Power Kids

Details: Review of clinical based evidence on why it is ok to teach very young and very impaired children to drive power chairs. Case studies will be used to show various methods for introducing power mobility in schools.

1:45 PM – 3:00 PM - Classroom Applications

Speaker: Michelle L. Lange, OTR, ABDA, ATP (Read Bio)

Details: Combining mobility and switch access with other assistive technology for participation and education. Specific examples with communication devices, computer access and simple EADLs in the classroom context.
