AbleNet Inc. Makes a "Splash" with New Summer Session Curricula for Special Education Students

AbleNet announces the availability of Splash™, a step-by-step extended school year program developed to assist district administrators and teachers in maintaining the academic progress of their special education students.

St. Paul, MN, (PRWeb) April 16, 2008 - For district administrators and special education teachers, a sure sign of spring is the rush to plan and gather materials for their elementary, middle school and high school summer sessions. Today, with the introduction of Splash™, AbleNet makes it easy to plan and deliver fresh and exciting content specifically designed for extended school year programs.

Splash™ offers engaging content that is both age and ability-appropriate for elementary, middle school and high school students with moderate and severe disabilities, including easy-to-implement instruction in the areas of communication, social interaction, reading, math, health and science.

"Splash doesn't require a lot of planning or training, and is tailor-made for the more relaxed pace of summer sessions. Each lesson is tied to fun summer activities that keep students of all abilities engaged in learning, while helping them retain and improve on skills learned during the regular school year," said Ann Meyer, Director of Research and Development for AbleNet.

Splash™ is offered as a four-week program for elementary and middle school students, and as a six-week program for high school students. Developed as an all-inclusive package, Splash™ includes teacher's guides, weekly step-by-step planners and instructions, pre and post assessments, ready-to-use reproducibles, and student workbooks with worksheets and activities in literacy, math, communication, science and social studies, plus take-home materials designed to keep parents engaged in their student's summer session experience. Best of all, everything teachers need is included in one easy-to-grab portfolio.

"We are truly excited about adding Splash to our line of high-quality curricular programs for students with moderate and severe disabilities. It is a privilege to provide curricula like Star Reporter, MEville to WEville and Weekly Reader AbleNet Editions to school districts across the United States. The development of Splash for summer sessions brings learning full circle and we look forward to hearing from administrators, teachers and students as they make use of this unique summer program," said AbleNet CEO Jen Thalhuber.
